Things To Do In And Around
Filey
Bird Watching. Visit Filey
Dams Nature Reserve on Wharfdale, it has a convenient carpark
and birdhides with great views across the dam.Bempton Cliffs is
another great place with its RSPB centre and great viewing
points from the tops of the cliffs looking over down towards
the thousands of nesting sea birds. Flamborough head is a great
place for viewing the puffins
nesting.
Scarborough
Only 7 miles north of Filey has an abundance of shops main
stream and independent specialist shops.
Scarborough Castle
stands very imposing on the headland and
is a wonderful place to visit with its exhibition
and wonderful views from the castle walls. Have a
ride on the hillside tram down to the beach or even
better up from the beach, it is found next to
the Grand Hotel.In the evening why not visit
the Stephen Joseph
Theatre. For the bike enthusiast
Olivers Mount holds events
throughout the year.
Robin Hoods Bay This pretty
village is a must to see, it is a very old fishing
village, but Beware it has a very steep incline and no cars are
allowed into the village you must park at the top and walk into
Robin Hoods Bay not
for the frail or infirm . You can still get good views from
the top of the village though.
Walking
Filey comes at the end of two challenging
walks Cleveland Way which
is 110 Miles and the Wolds Way 79 Miles . If you are
interested in doing either of these walks
The Sherpa Van project is a very helpful
site to visit. For those of you who only want a short
walk , the beach and cliff paths around Filey are
excellent.

Golf Fileys 18 hole golf course is
open to all visitors, only 10mins walk from our Guest
house.
Whitby
famous for Count Dracula and Captain Cook along with
the Abbey This is a great place to visit but
make sure you have plenty of time as their is a lot to
see.
Pickering/Goathland Take
a steam trainfrom Pickering on a
journey through the moors to goathland where
many of you will know is where they film Heart
Beat.
York Heading in land about 45 miles the
city of York stands with its most famous Minster protruding from the
city centre. The jorvik centre tells the tale of
the Vikings and the Museum has some wonderful artefacts to
peruse, this is next to Clifford's tower which has survived
1000 years. Northeast of York 15 miles sits Castle
Howard an 18th centuary
palace , is one of Englands most beautiful historic houses.
walk around the gardens and woodland take a ride on the
land-train to the lake, check the website for the latest
events.
Sledmere House
& Gardens A most impressive house only 10
miles from Filey, Sledmere House is a large estate and has
been in the same family since 1751, they have guided
tours around the house and lovely gardens to stroll
around. A museum and exhibition centre with gift shop and
terrace cafe are also on the
premises.
Filey's Crescent & Glen Gardens
A lovely place
to sit and have a rest, listen to the band playing
in the band stand in the summer or just watch the world
go by. For the children there is the boating lake,crazey
golf and swings and plenty of lawn to sit and have a
picnic.Grey squirrels are in abundance in the park and
always looking for food.

Eden
Camp Just outside Malton Eden Camp is a theme museum and
will transport you back in time to war time Britain. The
museum is constructed in the huts of an original prisoner of
War Camp built in 1942.This is a fascinating site with lots
to see so please allow at least 4
hours.
